5th Jan: Amroth- Red-necked Grebe

I had a quick visit to Amroth yesterday afternoon. The highlight was a Red-necked Grebe out in the bay. I noted the thick neck and stocky appearance, as well as the dusky neck, black head and greyish cheeks. It was preening on its own but a Great Crested Grebe wasn't far away so I could compare the differences. After a while it flew further out in the bay, when flying the White in the wings was smaller compared to Great Crested.
